Privacy Policy

ScreenDeath is operated by AK-Labz. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect (very little) and what we don't (almost everything).

The short version

No accounts. No sign-ups. No login.
No cloud storage. All your data stays on your device.
No personal data collected or sold.
No tracking of which apps you block or your screen time data.

Data stored on your device

ScreenDeath stores all data locally on your device using on-device storage (MMKV). This includes:

Block session history (start time, duration, outcome)
Schedule configurations
Allowlist preferences
Focus stats (streaks, sessions, daily summaries)
App settings and preferences

This data never leaves your device. We cannot access it. If you delete the app, this data is permanently deleted.

Analytics

We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous, aggregated usage events. These help us understand whether the app is working and what to improve. We track only:

app_opened — app was launched
trial_started — user started a free trial
purchase_completed — user completed a purchase
schedule_created — user created a schedule
block_session_started — user started a block
emergency_unlock — user used emergency unlock

These events do not contain personal information, app names, screen time data, or device identifiers tied to your identity. No IP addresses are stored.

Payments

Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) via RevenueCat. We use anonymous RevenueCat user IDs — we do not collect your name, email, or payment details. RevenueCat's privacy policy applies to payment processing: revenuecat.com/privacy

Screen Time permissions

ScreenDeath uses operating system APIs to block apps:

iOS: FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks. App selection uses Apple's opaque tokens — we never see which apps you choose to block.
Android: UsageStatsManager and SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW. We detect foreground apps to enforce blocks but do not record or transmit this data.

Children

ScreenDeath is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention

We do not retain any personal data because we do not collect any. Anonymous analytics events are retained in Mixpanel per their standard retention policy. On-device data is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
